Texas Youth Hunting Program - Renfro Hunting Club - 09/06/19 03:33 PM

My son just turned 9. I heard about the TYHP a couple of weeks ago and signed him up for a few hunts. Just got an email that he was approved for the Renfro Hunting Club hunt. Can anyone provide any info on the hunt or what typically happens on these hunts?

We have always had a great experience hunting with TYHP. The Huntmaster will call you with specific details on that hunt as it gets closer. General details are make sure son has hunters ed, fill out paperwork from site, practice shooting out to 100 yards prior and bring target used with you. They typically have hunters shoot a few rounds on Friday afternoon. Everyone wears hunters orange from time of arrival to departure. Some hunts provide lodging and some are tent camping. All meals are provided and they have learning activities in between hunt times. Everyone stays together and active over the weekend. Most hunts you can expect to target WT doe and hogs to help landowner management plans unless otherwise stated. This is one of the best youth programs in Texas and the hunts attended with my family have been some of my favorite weekends ever!

I don't personally know anything about that particular location. Curbow covered the TYHP hunting experience pretty well. You and your son will make some great memories. Congrats on getting selected.
