Lake Meredith Whitetail - 10/29/18 12:43 AM

Anyone out scouting Lake Meredith? I am leaving my lease before it even starts so back to the home roots of hunting Meredith this year. I have not been out there since 2005 and I am sure to see lots of orange, potential road fights again, and limited amounts of Whitetail. Going out for Veterans weekend 10th-12th.

Do tell about the road fights! A good drama-filled story is always entertaining.

Don't worry. It's usually dance fights, kinda like Westside Story.

Well back from 1999 to 2004 it was not out of the ordinary to see others get in a pissing match over a Deer, hunting spot, or camp beef from one to many drinks. My last year out there we were sitting in camp eating some chow when a guy came flying in more pissed off then my ex wife during divorce season because the guys with a beautiful 8 supposedly shot his Deer. It was everything from threats to get shot, butt woopin time, and just flat out trash talk over this public Whitetail. Game Warden came out and it was settled quickly as the guys who shot it did no wrong. Another adventure was my uncle and I was driving in and we sat back to 2 grown men fist fighting in the middle of the road over one being in the others spot. It was a good 15 degrees out and I know them cold knuckles had to feel broken with some solid face shots and slamming against the truck. My uncle told them he was a Cop “which he was not” to break it up and they left. Only reason he pulled the cop truck was because one of them had a young boy in the truck crying and it wasn’t cool. He knew if a GW showed up he was not getting hit with acting like a cop because it did more then what was happening.

I was out there this morning only seen 2 other vehicles. And no deer. Shot a mulie already so I was just looking for a whitetail today.

My buddy from Amarillo and his father went 2 weeks ago for a 5 day trip. Left on day 3 because of no deer being seen. Glassed a lot I guess and only deer seen was across canyon on a Ranch.
