LBJ Advice - 11/23/17 11:51 PM

New to the forum and new to Texas. I have a 17 year old senior in high school that I moved here last spring for my job. We were going to skip hunting this year not knowing anyone or anywhere and so much of Texas land being private. We live in Grayson County (archery only) and we are not archery hunters. That being said, these cool fall mornings gets something going in your veins and neither of us can handle not getting into the woods. Was thinking of hunting LBJ in the next month for deer or hogs but we have never been there and we haven’t met anyone who could point us in the right direction. For me, just spending time in the the woods with my boy is all I need. For my boy though it would be great to at least have a chance at seeing something. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Deer hunting is by shotgun only. This weekend (thanksgiving) is the only weekend you are allowed to shoot does out there. Otherwise you can only shoot bucks that meet the antler restrictions and those are hard to find at LBJ. Make sure to wear your Hunter orange. That place gets really crowded with idiots.

Not right. Shotgun or Black Powder are legal.
