I'm planning a trip for a public land hunt in Lake Meredith. Was wondering if you guys had any tips you might be willing to share. I have never been there and any info will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lots of people hunting up there. I hunted up there one weekend, I really like that area.

Beautiful place. Most deer are nocturnal. Morning hunt you might be able to catch a buck slipping back to bedding cover early. Lots of blaze orange, everywhere. Tough hunt.

Lake Ute is supposed to release excess water and this will help lake Meredith recover from shortage somewhat. GL

I've not found any deer on lake Merideth. There's a few on the shore, though.

You have to do a lot of hiking before it quits looking like a pumpkin patch.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like ill have to do quite a bit of hiking to avoid the crowd. How bad are the snakes over there?

Not too bad. Had a couple hunters die from snakebites the past couple of years. You know, usual stuff.....I kid, I kid.
