Youth Hunt Kerr WMA

Has anyone ever hunted at Kerr? What is it like? Are there any exotics out there? Did you guys see a lot of deer?

I hunted there last year and killed a nice 9 point and a doe. Not everyone there killed a deer. Many were holding out for a trophy. Mine scored 120's and had several broken tines. The largest was 140. I saw several shooter bucks. A mature buck would be 120's to 140's with the potential for 160's. They really wanted us to shoot mature deer. I think everyone had an opportunity to shoot something.

One guy killed a huge axis that had already dropped his antlers. The compartment I hunted had two different box stands and I hunted the one they recommended. They put out corn and game cameras prior to our hunt so the staff had a good idea where to put hunters and what they would see.

I would definitely put out corn. If you ask the staff, they can probably even tell you the spot to put the corn. I saw deer every sit except the first evening, but I think that's because it was so hot. I was sweating like whore in church in the blind.

The staff was great and wanted the hunters to be successful. Overall it was the best TPWD hunt I've been on. You guys scored one of the best hunts in my opinion.

Great area to hunt and youth should be really good.

That should be a great youth hunt. TPWD tends to really put great hunts together when kids are involved.
