Which AR QD mount?

Which AR QD mount? - 04/24/22 09:30 PM

Which AR mount is most likely to reliably return to zero when remounted? I don’t need absolute perfection, but I would like something consistent and predictable.

To me, the original gold standard is LaRue Tactical. Always a plus being a Texas company too. Any of there products hold zero.

I’ve had LaRue, ADM, and Bobro

Barrister and some paintball stiff was less desirable

I'll add Burris and ZRODelta to that list as well...all work well.

American Defense Mfg., LaRue, ZroDelta or Bobro. We sell the American Defense Recon QD mounts by the hundreds every single year and have essentially 0 complaints. American made, lifetime guarantee.

All the ones Jason stated are good. I have always used American Defense and very happy with them.

I use LaRue on a couple of things and they've been perfect. On my night vision scope, I went with American Defense at Jason's suggestion and it's been great as well. That optic comes off my rifle every time I put it in the safe. Just 2 weeks ago after remounting it I hit a coon between the eyes at 100 yards. Very quality piece.

ADM is what I use on my patrol rifle, it’s never failed to RTZ. ZroDelta is what I use on my thermal, again, it’s never failed to RTZ and it gets taken off & put back on way more than my others.

Even though I didn’t ask the question, I am glad to see the answers. I will eventually need one.

Another vote for Larue. I have run them on both of my work rifles and trust the product. I have taken scopes off and have always had a return to zero. If money is no object then ScalarWorks makes a super sexy product with the Leap 08/09 series.

100 years ago I was at LaRue doing some mount tests.
For one of them they had a very solid optic mount fixture that was a few hundred pounds. The test procedure of the day was to mount the optics on the rail in the fixture, dial the reticle in onto target then remove and remount the optics a couple dozen times, each time verifying the reticle centered back on the target down range. (200yds?)

A couple others out of the QD's mentioned above were no where near as repeatable as the LT mounts. The LT mounts that we randomly grabbed out of the shipping bins (rings and cantilevered 1 piece) were as repeatable as the Badger Ordinance and MK4 torque nut/wrench option that they were being tested against.

I personally feel that there is a place for most of the QD mount designs (less finish marring on fancy BBQ rigs, swapping 1 optic across multiple rifles regularly, regular day to night optic swaps on the same rail etc) but if absolute zero repeatability in a toolless QD is what I'm looking for, LT mounts is what I'm personally grabbing.

I like the BoBro mounts, I've put years of use on mine and still return to zero.

To circle back, I ultimately went with an ADM Recon 34mm mid-height with the titanium retention system. The deciding factor was mount height as I needed something between the standard 1.47” and 1.93” models. I’ve got a friend bringing over one of the standard LaRue models, so I plan on checking out those as well. Thanks to everyone for the excellent suggestions.
