Bering Optics Super Yoter-R Thermal - 07/24/21 05:29 PM

Apparently, the cat is out of the bag. Still can't release video or details until Monday, but the new thermal optic I mentioned in the other thread is the Bering Optics Super Yoter-R. Here is the first video that will play on Monday, 7/26. I am liking this scope. I have now had it out on several hunts and it does well. This is just the prototype, so I am really looking forward to the finished product.

When I bought my first Bering Optics thermal sight in Sept. 2019 there was very little known of the product at that time. I recall asking them if they had a 640 unit and they said No that it was in the works.

I shrugged it off at that time , didn’t have 640 money to spend anyways.

Man what a difference two years makes !

They’re set to debut a 640 unit that is going to surprise A LOT of people.

I’m in on your video premiere and a Super Yoter-R when they release them !

Well YouTube sent me an interesting note saying the video was unable to play and that I was to re-upload it. So here it is...

Bering said they were looking to release for sale end of September or first of October and would have a price point of $4,595.00

Testing continues with the Super Yoter thermal riflescope

Lots of hard work went into that video PigPopper, well done. We're currently testing the Super Yoter as well and I've got to say the image quality is extremely impressive and I like all the new added image adjustment controls, that makes a huge difference compared to the previous Hogsters.

I specifically attempted to relate this in the video above , let me peel back a few more layers here :

In White Hot mode , YES , a lot better than SH

In Black Hot , NO , about the same

Zeroing : YES , the image refinement allows for sharper , clearer , cleaner visuals on small targets

Image adjustments : YES , there are MORE image adjustment features that’ll suit those that prefer a darker (terrain muted) look or brighter washed out image

Hope that answers your question

I didn’t watch the whole video. Was looking for the fun thermal kills. I have about a 4 minutes attention span lol

I’ll watch it again

Fun thermal kills are on DoubleNaughtSpys YouTube channel - search CARPE SUS

He’s got about 10-15 vids using this scope over the last 60 days

You’re welcome wink

WAY better but it should be at 640 resolution. I'm extremely impressed, honestly more than I thought I'd be. And Pig Popper is right, there are way more image adjustments. I think Bering went from some of the least adjustable image settings to possibly the most adjustable. It really helps a lot.

I haven't used black hot yet, I'm just a white hot guy and haven't gotten that far in my testing but I know a lot of guys prefer black hot so I'll be doing some testing there as well.

I'm with Jason and Pig_Popper, WAAAYYY better than the Super Hogster. Jason mentioned 640 resolution. Well the Super Hogster is 384x288 resolution which gives you 110592 pixels. The Super Yoter is 640x480 resolution which gives you 307200 pixels, or 2.78 times as many pixels at almost the exact same level of base magnification and lens sizes, and other similar/same features. That is a big deal.

The better the image quality, the better your ability to see and identify things at longer ranges or under poorer conditions. Also remember that all other things being equal, for better image quality...
More resolution is better than less resolution
A bigger objective lens is better than a smaller lens (just as with optical cameras)
A lower micron pitch is better is better than higher (density of the image components)
A higher Hz refresh rate is better than lower (think film speed, here)
A lower number on thermal sensitivity (meaning having the ability to detect smaller differences) is better than a higher number

The firmware on the Super Yoter is more refined. You do have more image quality adjustments, but again like the Super Hogster, they are staged set levels of adjust (not nearly infinite like the failed Armasight Zeus/FLIR PTS(D) optics that could have you making ongoing adjustments all night long in order to keep your image in shape).

Video also doesn't really show is that the colored reticles actually stand out a lot more in the onscreen image than in the video. They are much more vibrant onscreen. For example, for more precise shooting, I like using the small dot (block, as it is square) reticle. On screen, it stands out and making the shot is spot on. In the vid, however, the dot is much more subdued and a bit harder to follow..
