Personal preference, it’s about half and half maybe a few more mils.

Make sure you have a lot of vertical travel.

Never MOA

That was very definitive. Not to be argumentative but your reasons why so I know.
Thank you.

If you are going to shoot any type of competition, most likely the other shooters will be using mils in either their scopes or spotting scopes. Mils in your scope would make calling corrections much easier. Also, mils will typically give you more hold over in the reticle. Just my opinion. Really boils down to what you know best and are most comfortable working with. Once I switched over to mils, I have not looked back.

The short answer, elevation is slightly easier to use and remember in Mils. Wind is way easier to operate in Mils than MOA.

1st match I shot was with an MOA scope. If I remember correctly, I was dialing 14.74 MOA to 200 yards (edit:looking back at my notes it was 21.25 MOA!)...and that was with supersonic ammo. I bought a Mil scope and 7.6 MIL gets me to 200 yards with subsonic ammo. Easier to dial. Easier to do holdovers. I hear it's easier to calculate wind too, but evidently I can't calculate wind with either. Lol. In the ntxr, you will have to go from close range to long range in the same setup. Much easier to do that in MILs. I used to think FiremanJG was exaggerating how much better MIL was, and I was reluctant to change. Now that I've tried it, I'm sold.

Mil is definitely easier but the word precision suggest MOA. When shooting steel I doubt it matters, bulls-eye type competitions I would want MOA. It’s simply a finer adjustment. That’s the absolute only benefit I can think of. I don’t shoot rimfire, and when I do shoot I lose rather spectacularly these days, so take it for what it’s worth.

MOA Always

Nightforce SHV, focuses down to 25 yards, super clear, reticle easy to see and is uncluttered with all that crap.

all you will need a good drop chart .

if there is wind...... roflmao

Just ordered the Athlon Argos BTR 6-24 Mil for my Ruger Precision .22. It fit nicely into my specs, which seem to parallel yours.

Some of the Bushnell scope mid way has on sale may fit your needs, I have a crimson trace series 3 (I believe) that I purchased specifically for my 22 it has the range in the dial, clarity is pretty good, it’s a 34mm tube and will parallax down to 15 yards I paid right at $500 for it. Mid-way had these on sale for 50-60% off not long ago and I believe they are still the same price. Mine tracks well and I have used it out to 550 yards many times it holds zero well. The turrets are slightly soft and not as positive as I’d like but for the price point it’s light years ahead of vortex.. or any of the other budget scopes.. it is a made in Japan scope as well.

For those that tout the “easier to dial” argument for MILS, please make sure your audience realizes there are 10 ‘clicks’ in a MIL and 4 in a MOA on most scopes. The difference in the example above, 21.25 MOA vs. 7.6 MILS, is only 9 clicks, less than 1/4 rotation of a turret.
Is the MIL easier?, yes.....but not by much. How many people say their gun shoots “less than 1/3 MIL!”

It truly doesn’t matter MIL’s or moa, you have to have your door for that particular rig.
What you said can’t be any more true!

Mills are what the whiteclaw, topknot, bitchbiscuit wearing mall ninjas all desires it’s in vogue!
My comment is directed at no one as I shoot a 6.5 chase more.. and wear Oakley’s, but that’s my only tendency’s..

Mils are easier to teach, and easier to use. Has nothing to do with what is in vogue, or social status.

See I knew it!!

No doubt mils would be easier to teach, I didn’t really think of it from a teaching standpoint but then again been shooting a long time..
