Leica Geovid 3000 - 07/13/20 05:12 PM

Looking to try these out again, this time the new 3000 version. Anybody with experience prefer the 8x over 10x or vice versa? Was thinking about trying the 8x to reduce image shake that may affect a 59 yr old guy. Thoughts/pros/cons ? Thanks.

Sure love my 10X. Real helpful to get my arms supported on something. If I'm on foot, I'll often take a knee. We hunted the mountains of Brewster county, and the 10X Leicas sure did cover lots of ground. I keep the binos beside me in the truck every day, so they get used every day. I know what you mean about the shake, but it is manageable with a few tricks. I'd rather have the 10X over the 8X personally. But I doubt I will ever use any higher magnification than the 10X, they seem to be just right for my needs.

My thoughts exactly on 10x binos. That's really all I've ever used.

I prefer 10x glass. I would only use 8x if I hunted in thicker woods or tighter country and truly didn’t need the extra 2x.

Try using a tripod for long glass sessions or as mentioned, take a knee or rest the elbows on something to steady it up

I love my rangefinder binos and honestly don’t know how I lived without them

If I'm seriously glassing, which I do an awful lot of, my binos are tripod mounted. Makes a huge difference even with 10x. I may sit in the same spot for 4-5 hours or more.

You mentioned the Leica, look at the vortex viper HD 5000

I’ve been hella impressed with them. I looked at Burris, Leica and Swavorski and the only ones that were clearer, to me were the swaros bit at more than twice the price

Why can’t someone make a 12x in the newer models

I use 11x 45mm Maven and they are solid choices.
