Help me pick out some rings, please!

Help me pick out some rings, please! - 09/09/19 06:24 PM

Ok, so I'm in the middle of upgrading a 7-08AI and I finally sold enough old toys to put a Nightforce NX8 4x32x50 on top. I have a 20MOA rail I'll be installing on the rifle.

I am looking for the best scope rings I can find. Nothing too heavy, though. What are some rings you would suggest?

With a EGW Remington 700 Short Action 20 MOA rail, what size rings you think would be sufficient?

Prolly want a stock pack at 1.125", but with a stock pack, and that ring height it is quite comfortable producing a nice natural point of aim.

Nightforce Ultralights on all mine Lows .085

I like the Seekins too, they are very streamlined

Hawkins precision rings are super nice. Those or seekins or badger are top notch.

There are a lot of good rings out there, but I think Seekins are the nicest. They're reasonably priced (relatively speaking.) Obviously good at holding a scope in place without messing with lapping and all that nonsense. The best part is that they don't weigh much, and they don't have any sharp edges. Everything is rounded off for a snag free experience out in the field.

Thanks for the input, everyone! Now, I'm having trouble deciding! I really like the streamlined, rounded off look of the Seekins.

Talley has always been my go to in the past. EGW has a nice set as well, and Nightforce is always good quality.

I'm leaning towards Seekins. Will marinate on the idea for a day or two. Thanks again for the suggestions!

+ 1 on the NF Ultra lights... just have to shop to get them reasonably priced. I found mine from folks that bought the wrong height to begin with. Very please.

I also like the Leupold Aluminum Mark 4 rings.

The selling point for me was the fact the Seekins rings only need one tool to attach them to the rail and tighten the ring caps Torx #20 if I recall.. and they provide the wrench flag

All my (just 4) rifles wear Precision Reflex rails and rings. I buy them because they were a customer but can say I’ve never had a problem with any of them.

I like the Nightforce branded rings. The standard ones are a heck of a good value. Ultralights are what I use though.
