Leupold American hunter vs. Vx freedom

Have to ask because when I looked through demo models at cabelas. Hunter looked brighter and clearer than the Freedom. Freedom is supposed to be the better one from what I read. Guy a counter said it was an exclusive deal with leupold to put more coatings on the Hunter glass. The two I compared were 3x9x40 hunter and 3x9x50 freedom. Only a $30 difference between those two. $200-$250 is pretty top budget for me. Anyone know about extra coatings on that unit that would give it an edge over move expensive scopes?
