Vortex Crossfire II 2x7x32

I'm planning on putting a scope on my 300 black out 16" barrel. Something for mid range hunting out to 150 yds. for hogs. I'm considering the Vortex crossfire II with the BDC reticle. I usually use Nikon products but this Vortex caught my eye, its cheaper that a comparable Nikon and it has good reviews. I would like to hear from some Vortex owners. Your opinion, good, bad, or indifferent about Vortex products, specifically the Cross Fire line.

It’s been my experience that the low and mid range Vortex are susceptible to recoil. My STW wrecked a PST. They fixed it, and it’s been fine on a 7/08. We have a Crossfire on the youth .243, and it’s held up fine.

My personal experience is that that Vortex product lines have gone down in overall quality except for Razor. My original Vortex scopes and my Razor scopes are still going strong; any Diamondback or Viper scopes I purchased the past several years have had 100% failure rates. A Diamondback died while on a 6.5 Creedmoor. A Viper HS died on a 300 Win Mag.

As far as the Crossfire goes, I'd pass. My friend has one on his 270. His has less than stellar low light capabilities. We were shooting steel targets at 400 yards. No issues seeing the larger steel plates but the small plates were fuzzy (could not do anything with that scope to resolve that issue).

No thanks on either scope mentioned.

I went with the Monstrum 3x9x32 it's on sale on their site for $59 and ships free. Short, light and it has a lighted reticle. We'll see how it works out.

You have mad e a BIG mistake. If the scope sells for less than 1K, it is obviously worthless junk to be avoided at all costs!

I recently mounted a Crossfire II 3-7x32 on an old rifle. I haven't fired it enough to comment on durability, but I was not impressed with the clarity and brightness. I also have a new Diamondback that I will mount on another rifle soon and I am hoping for a pleasant surprise.

In an inexpensive scope you are best off looking at a Konus or an Athlon Talos. Better quality and dependability
