Deal alert!! FFP mil/mil

Deal alert!! FFP mil/mil - 05/01/18 02:14 PM

Thought I would pass this along for anyone in need of a light weight hunting / tactical scope. GA is running a special buy for the Bushnell LRHSI 3.5-18 x44 for 750 plus shipping. They also have an option to add a multi tool for 50$ more. Only catch is it won’t ship until July but you are saving around 4-500$

I have no association with GA just wanted to pass on a hell of a deal.

Can any one compare this scope to a vortex pst 2?

Ya'll need to stay out of my damn billfold. I really like this scope.

Never looked head to head but the lrhs is a Japanese made scope is consistent across the boards as a good to very good hunting scope. That donut reticle is very popular

Only thing questionable at times is the warranty since I believe that line is going away

Let us know if you find out

Both have zero stop and illumination, the PST2 has a better reticle and I would assume better glass (though I have not looked through the LRHSI, but I have looked through slightly more expensive Bushnell ET models and not been impressed for the price while the PST2 had very good glass for the $). The Bushnell likely has better build quality. The PST2 is a 5x scope while the LRHSI is a 4x, but that's not a huge deal because 4.5-18 is a very useful range.

You can get discounted PST2 scopes in the $800-$900 range depending on whether you're looking at the 3-15 or 5-25. The Bushnell is at $750. I'd get the PST2, but that's me. Honestly, in that price range, your best bet IMHO is a used SWFA 5-20 HD. But neither this Bushnell or the PST2 are bad options.

If this has the same Japanese glass as the Elite Tactical (and I'm pretty sure it does), it's better than the Gen 2 PST. I have both.

I wish I could remember which Bushnell I looked through. I looked through the ERS and one of their lower end models at SWFA about 7-8 months ago. ERS was good. The lower end one was pretty lackluster and it was around $1000-$1200 list price IIRC. I was less than impressed, and it was Japanese glass.

One other suggestion in this price range is a Burris XTR II 4-20. Non-illuminated puts you right in this price range and that scope is very well-regarded, and it beats the Bushnell reticle with no build quality or optical concerns.

Re: Deal alert!! - 05/03/18 11:06 AM

I had one of the original lrhs 18 power and the glass was compairable with my NXS and PSTii. Turrets were tactile and tracked perfectly and I fell in love with the reticle after a few trips to the range. I can’t speak to the warranty as I never had any issues with the scope. The lrhsi Bushnell is releasing in July is supposed to have upgraded glass. We will see.

Re: Deal alert!! - 05/03/18 12:51 PM

Here's a sample of one Bushnell CS stories

https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthread...-service#UNREAD

According to Formid ( a DOD guy who tests rifles, scopes, bullets for the us Govt) over on 24HCF The Bushy LRHS is one of only a small handful of scopes that can stand up to tortuous tracking, repeatability, and longevity testing. He puts in the league with NF. He wouldn't trust a Vortex anything with a ten foot pole. I can attest to the glass being top notch, at least as good as the VX6HD, better than SWFA 3-9 HD.

From my understanding, the LRHS is being replaced with the LRTS, which is the same scope with a different reticle(minus the "doughnut of death")

Submitted an online question and they called me back with an hour and got me all squared away. Apparently their online system was thrown off by me wanting to ship it to my office which is not my billing address.

Also ordered a set of Badger Ordinance rings.

Re: Deal alert!! - 08/24/18 02:09 PM

Mine arrives Monday. frown

Still going to the range today to help a buddy zero his new RPR. Noticed yesterday that Best of The West in Liberty Hill has their long range (250-1000 yds) closed, said it should re open in a couple weeks. We are going to Eagle Peak where they have paper at 100, 200 & 300.

Re: Deal alert!! - 08/24/18 06:27 PM

mine is here but I had it delivered to a FedEx store till I get back from hunting lease - will pick it up Monday . I already have one on my tikka-22-250 and they are nice scopes. Not 100% sure which rifle this will wind up on. either swap the swfa 5x20x50 that I have on a Remington LR-3006 to a masterpiece arms BA308 chassis rifle or go with this one 4.5 x18 x44 on the 308 . most likely will not be shooting over 500yards. one big plus its a lot lighter than the swfa scope

Mine arrived yesterday and looks great. Everything seems to check out right, I look forward to trying it out.

I saw a post on Snipers Hide that some of them are showing up with the elevation index mark not centered. Here is a picture that was posted:

Fortunately mine is correct.

Isn’t that really more of a cosmetic issue than true function?

Re: Deal alert!! FFP mil/mil - 08/28/18 02:35 AM

don't you just use the included hex wrench to unlock the zero lock knob & center it back to zero?

seems to be .1mil offset

Re: Deal alert!! FFP mil/mil - 08/28/18 02:38 AM

Yup that’s what I was thinking...

My buddy got his in a few weeks back and it’s a hell of a scope for the money
Posted By: Cass

Re: Deal alert!! FFP mil/mil - 08/29/18 03:12 AM

I think you could get the scope zeroed alright, but it would bug me that the zero index is off to the right. The arrow on top of the knob would also be pointed off to the left. Bushnell is sending return labels to the ones who posted.

Bushnell even reached out to 2 other guys who had posted on the forum that they had the same problem, but hadn't called Bushnell yet. That is pretty impressive to me that they are aware of the thread on the forum and being proactive to contact the customers first!

I cropped the picture to get it to show up better here.

Would be for me. I'd leave it if it were mine. Course, mine all have scars all over them, because they get used.

Re: Deal alert!! FFP mil/mil - 08/29/18 02:19 PM

I get that there's still a mark to index the turret off of but my OCD just couldn't allow that. Every time I looked up at it I would probably develop a twitch or a tic of some sort, maybe even show signs of tourettes.

Thankfully mine is centered.

...plus you'd be looking at it from the "wrong" side of the rifle anyway! wink
