Waiting for my tax stamp and then ill be building a 6.8 with a 10.5 inch barrel. My question is what optic/optics would y'all suggest for medium range hunting with the 6.8?
If you want to stretch the distance a bit a 2.5-10X would also be nice. I'm seriously considering a 2.5-10 for my carbine. On 2.5X obtaining a sight picture as close as 20 yards is fast and easy, and 300 yards is plenty do-able on 10X. This week I have had two friends out to the range with 2.5-10 Vortex Vipers and I experimented with the scope both times. They look to be what I want for the rifle.

What do you consider "medium range"? I.e., what distance in yards?

That is a pretty good question. The 6.8 isn't a power house round and out of a 10.5" barrel will be even less so. Even if you gain a little back with a suppressor I think you're looking at 200-250 yards max on deer-sized game. I'm running a 16" barrel on mine and don't think I'll be taking many/any shots past 200.
I checked google images for a trajectory chart for 6.8, and what I saw said there is a 4.7" drop at 200 yards (with a 100 yard zero). I'd sight it 2" high at 100, and use a 2 MOA red dot such as an Aimpoint Pro. If you're a holosight guy, an EOTech 512 would work nicely as well with its 1 MOA dot.
That setup would pretty much be on the money from zero to 200y, give or take a couple of inches at 0 (sight offset), 100, and 200 yards.
