Scope problem... - 12/21/14 10:56 PM

Guys,

I went to the range today and was shooting at 200 yards and could get my scope to focus so I moved it from 200 yards to 300 and it focused then. It didn't seem to be tracking so I shot it at 100 and then adjusted it for 200 and it didn't track at all! Ugh. Sounds like it's broke but I was wondering if the cold weather could cause any of these issues?

Thanks,

Mel

If it is the cold weather causing the problem it is still broke. If this cooler weather is an issue then there is a problem.

Hot, warm, cool, or cold the scope should track. Something is wrong with it.

Did you dial 200 yard DOPE but shoot it on 100 yard paper?

All things mechanical can fail. This is why most scope companies carry a lifetime warranty.

If it isn't tracking anymore, double check your mounts. If you don't find anything, send it in.

If you do send it in, let us know how they treated the issue, turn around time, etc., etc.
I've had to use my warranty on several scopes, some companies were alot easier to deal with than others.

Who is the manufacturer? Just curious.

JG,

I fired it first with 100 yard dope and then adjusted it to 200. And yes I knew I was shooting it with 100 yard dope.

At least not all was bad...My AR 6.5CM shot pretty good today. And I took my 300WM and shot it at 100yds and 200yds...one shot at each distance and it shoots awesome! Kicked the crap out of me but it still shoot lights out. Always has.

So you did stay on 100 yard paper, but dialed up for 200 yards? Something like .4 Mil? Fired another round with .4 elevation dialed in, but shooting at 100 yard paper, and point of impact DID NOT move up .4 Mil. Is that correct?

Double check mounts just to be on the safe side...

March scopes are finicky about focusing if you mount them the least amount off the center bore line. Double check your mounting hardware and if the scope still won't track or focus contact Kelbly's in North Lawrence, OH. They are a distributor for March.

Kelbly's helped me when I had an original March 40x52BR scope tank. Group opened way up and a box test looked like I had given my rifle to a drunk monkey. It took several months to get a replacement from Japan but the DEON group stood behind their product.
