Nightforce SHV - 07/26/14 08:37 PM

I am looking for personal experience with Nightforce SHV. I am looking at5x20x56 for my 6.5 Creedmore. Any pros or cons would be appreciated.

Based on features I read.

Pros: MOA reticle and MOA knobs, great glass (NF afterall)

Cons: Second focal plane, knobs under caps, weight.

Price?

Price is 950 I think. For that I would get a used nxs

For that I would get a Viper PST.

FFP, lighter, exposed turrets.

The Nightforce SHV is only about 4 ounces heavier than the PST.

This. There are deals out there on NXS scopes, I scooped one up for $750 a while back.

I think they blew it on the specs for the scope personally.
Especially the 56mm objective, that may sell in Europe but not well in the US for most hunters.

I bet it sells better here European hunters/shooters are used to good glass that doesn't need the huge objective lenses.

True, but they sell more 56s there than here, I have had this conversation with S&B, Kahles, Zeiss and Meopta..

No shooting light restrictions over there.

Yup, here I have never seen the need for the extra ring height/bulk/weight of a 50mm or larger objective for deer hunting within our legal hunting hours.

understood..
but even hog hunters here don't seem to want the bulk of a 56

I have owned a few
