My RS32 1-5x will be here Monday! I will let you know a full report within a few days or week once I take it out! From talking to a few dealers that have taken the demo units out in the field, they are saying it is one of the best thermal scopes. The 60Hz refresh makes it worth it.

I ran the RS32 last year
nice

I am looking forward to get the scope to test

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/04/14 02:14 PM

What did you think of it? Is it ok for 200-300 yard night hunting? I have a tall hill I can shoot out to 200-300 yards where the pigs cross right after dark. I can't decide if I want to put it on my 300 blk out or AR-10 308.

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/04/14 02:40 PM

Detection at 2-300 was fine but I don't think it would have been able to clearly discern shot placement..
This was just the handheld
Perhaps the scope is better

The RS-32 1.25-5X has the 320 core with a 19mm lens, the RS32-35 2.25-9X has the 320 core with a 35mm lens.

The 35mm lens will add significant range, resolution, and clarity above and beyond what is provided by the PS-32's smaller 19mm lens, however the FOV will be reduced.

The 35mm lens system should allow targeting out to 250 yards under most climate situations, while the 19 mm lens should provide out to 175 yards.

The RS32 models have 1/2 the FOV of the RS64 models with the same size lens.

It will be a nice hog getter for sure.

Hope this helps.

Thought I would pass along...ordered this from Opticplanet.com....was going to order online but called as I had a few questions...long story short I was able to get it for $4K flat. I was asking some general questions about sales taxes and guy asked me if I wanted him to check if the price was lower than the online order. Of course I said yes...he said he could sell for $4,100....I asked if he could do it for under $4,000...he checked and came back that he could do for $4,000 flat with no taxes since its shipping out of IL and no shipping cost....great deal.

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/09/14 07:38 PM

I've called FLIR tech support to get info on how to record video, and they do not know how to do it. Does anyone know how to record the video?

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/09/14 07:54 PM

The production cables for the RS scopes have not been completed by the subcontractor who is building them yet. The cable has an internal smart switch to turn on the video output automatically when you connect the cable to save battery life. You will receive a cable for free soon when they become available.

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/09/14 07:56 PM

If FLiR didn't include a video cable in the box you're screwed.

They're supposed to include it but they ran out and didn't want to hold back scopes so they are taking a IOU to customers for the cable.

Do u have the cable?

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/09/14 08:00 PM

Haha, that is not true at all, no one has a cable.

And everyone that has an RS will get a video cable when they finish production.

What is not true at all?

Here is a reference to the cable not being in the package, key in on TNVC-Victor's note.

Yup, just what I said previously, but nice that you researched it out and linked to that.

Official video cable announcement and shipments will be forthcoming shortly, as I mentioned previously.

The only cable that came with it was a mini USB to standard USB cable for charging the unit.

I used my Tectronix 200mHz oscilloscope to suck the raw video signal out of the Tau2 core with the special high tech electronic video cable I frankensteined.

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/11/14 07:01 PM

Well, the new RS32 FLIR is sighted in and ready to hunt on my AR-15 in 300 blk out. I put a target up at 50 yards and 100 yards, and started at 50 yards to get it sighted in. I put a hand warmer in the middle of the target to use for the heat source. I put one round down range at 50, and it wasn't on paper. So, I bore sighted the old fashion way looking through the bore and lining the cross hairs up. It was about 1 foot left, so I dialed it right. After a few sighters, I had it zero'd at 50, and went to 100. It is a little more difficult to sight one of these in, but it's doable. I ended up getting it printing about 1" high at 100, and dead on at 50! I think we are ready!

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/12/14 02:39 AM

We have the RS32(35mm) and the RS64(35mm)in stock.
A few comments:
1)The video cables were supposed to be shipped "the first week of April", but we haven't seen them yet....I'm confident that FLIR will make good on their promise to supply the cables.
2)The video cable looks very similar to a GoPro output cable...but the pinouts are different. I have a couple of working cables...they are pretty simple.
3) Without the video cable, the only way to record would be through the eyepiece...we've done it with one of our iPhone adapters with good results, but shooting with an iPhone is problematic at best.

Totally agree, look for official announcement towards the end of this month for video cable shipments to all current owners....

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/13/14 04:35 PM

We took the RS32 thermal scope out last night for the first time. We didn't get any pigs, but we did shoot 1 raccoon and 2 rabbits. The definition is fine for normal hunting distances. We were able to make out a rabbit at about ~100 or so yards, and close in on it for a closer shot. With a steady shot, 100 yards on a rabbit would be no problem. We were able to see 4 raccoons running around the feeder very well from about 75 yards. They were climbing trees and eating corn from under the feeder. The FLIR is a very cool unit, and is a game changer for night time hunting. It does help to go from 1x to 2x for a little more clarity. The 4x is a little grainy, so I like to shoot on 2x.

Awesome!! Good to hear. Thank you! I'm making another run of 208's this week.
Posted By: ccoker

Re: FLIR RS 32 Thermal Scope - 04/14/14 09:24 PM

I sighted the 208s dead on at 50 and was hitting an 6" plate easily at 100 with my pistol build with a T1
They had less drop than I thought they would.

So cool, the thwack hitting the plate was louder than the gun with my Templar can

I shot some through a Libtery integrally supressed rifle, very nice setup and Q U I E T
