Water system was installed today.
Tank on the left is the water softner, next tank is the iron breaker which take care of iron/minerals and H2S sulfer smell. Next is the hopper for salt pellets for softener. Spindown Filter on wall is for sediment and to be changed once a year.
Texoma Water Systems did the work and they know more about water than you could ever think of. Install is really clean and serviceable if needed.

Maybe my perspective is off from the picture, but that looks like a really small pressure tank for a house of any size. I assume since it was done by the pros it keeps up with demand? But the install looks great!

Pressure tank came with the place (previous owner went cheap) I was concerned as you are. After testing and adjustment we have 65 lbs of pressure and were good with that. It's just the wife and I so no high demand.

We had to replace ours in a pinch at the ranch and all we could find was something smaller than what was in place. Works fine, it just makes the pump come on more often.....maybe extra wear and tear.

Be glad your water doesn't suck so bad it requires this. Ours for contrast.

Every penny.
The iron and minerals are hard on all appliances, don't have to worry about that anymore.

Can you run a similar system without the water softener, mainly the iron breaker part or does that part need a softener to work right?

You can do just an Iron Breaker without the softner.
Look them up the company is called Charger and Iron Breaker is the system.

Where does the regen water go? Is that just being dumped outside on the ground? Is it going into your septic system? Do you have some kink of mini- leech field for it?

I want to install a softener at our new home, but our septic system leech field runs between some magnificent mature oaks trees. I know it will not hurt the septic system, I am worried about the trees.
