Jack county, Tx - Hunting - 03/05/23 05:52 AM

I am considering purchasing some land just a few miles south of Newpoint Tx in North East Jack county. How is the deer population in this area? I did not see a lot of tracks on this particular piece but maybe just need a feeder to bring them in. Just do not have the experience in the area and any comments would be highly appreciated.

Not sure where Newpoint is in Jack county. I have a few friends that hunt in Jack county close to Pos oak and they do all right. It’s kind of like young county . Smaller acreage and lots of hunters so lots of pressure . They still see lots of deer . Probably not panhandle size deer. They have taken a few 150 class bucks. I would for sure want water and oaks on my property. Jack county is known for there oak trees.

Half of the ranch is in SW Jack. Saw your other post where you mentioned the size was gonna be 75-100acres. On a property of that size, I would want big neighbors, good bottoms with water, or lots of dense oak cover to ensure consistent hunting. Otherwise you are relying on deer to travel across other properties to get to yours, and I’ve found most people are of the “if it’s brown it’s down mindset”
