8 point - 11/20/22 09:27 PM

Have seen him few times live and on camera, but Friday morning at 0930 with cold weather and overcast sky at 600 yards trailing a doe it was on. He never stopped to give me that perfect shot so at bout 80 yards before he ran out of sight under me I hit him on the move and he dropped right there. I been shooting SST, 165 gr. .308 for 6-7 years on most everything and have killed with it from now 80 to 450 yards and it's performed as designed every time. [Linked Image]

Re: 8 point - 11/21/22 09:28 PM

Thanks for the compliments. Our rut is weird this year. Seems like our does are coming in sporadically over about a two week period. I see a lot of does that bucks have zero interest in. Then, a little chasing, few bucks fighting making scrapes and rubs with an actual mount up mating session I saw yesterday morning. Carzy, 2 other bucks showed right after the deal was sealed and just hung around.

Just picked up my processed meat from Whitakers. I have 95 packages, all weighing over 1 lb 3oz. - 1 lb 5oz. Maxed out a 65, and a 45 qt cooler.

Our rut is still on. Yesterday my hunting partner also witnessed a buck breed a doe. Both of us hunted our whole lives and until this year never seen it happen. It was a good buck that his daughter dropped after the deal was done.

what is that solar/antanae setup you have on teh side of the blind?

My Cuddeback game camera is 125 yards away, about 40' below. You may notice the small black dot, that's my feeder. What you see on the blind is a Cuddeback receiver that has a sd card. The camera sends the pic to the receiver so I don't have to go into the area, leaving my scent behind to get pic's. I top my 600 lb feeder off 3 weeks before opening morning and don't go into that area for 10-12 weeks, or sooner if I need to haul a buck out. The area I hunt sees zero traffic or human presence, our deer spook easy. I walk 1/2 mile in, and out.
