Lol! I was being sarcastic! I could see it on the bag. These days even if it said 60 I wouldn’t trust it.

Hunted for a long time without a feeder or a stand, but now I'll cut back here and there and make it work...

A bushel of corn weighs around 56 lbs
If you take the spot price per bushel + the bag + recleaning + pallet cost + labor overhead profit, you get close to the wholesale price. You have to add something for delivery to the retailer

Here is what I come up with my best guess
$6.05 Spot price per 50lbs 9/6/22
$ 1.00 Printed bag and label
$ 0.25 Recleaning
$ 0.50 Pallet (40bags on 20$ pallet)
$ 2.50 L/O/P
$ 0.50 Delivery
$10.80 Wholesale cost per bag delivered
I got a quote today of 11.05 per bag delivered and we will put a 11.95 retail which doesn't make anyone a wealthy man. You see that $4.75 per bag doesn't change that much but the bushel price does and if they bought back in April they probably paid $2.25 per bushel more than it is now? If the retailer is putting a normal 25% markup on the wholesale cost the retail price would be $14.75 per bag today.

Hope that helps explain what's happening?

Well, thank you for explaining in terms that I can understand. I don't know how some of you guys hunting in south Texas
can afford to fill up all the feeders that you run at a time. I had 3 going last year. Now I have one. Corn at Tractor Supply
in De Queen Arkansas was $16.75 a bag last week.

Thanks for breaking it down. It's still robbery when we were paying $8.00 per bag not that long ago.

How is it robbery? I don’t see anyone making obscene profits at those numbers. Virtually all those steps have increased costs they are facing as well. Yeah it sucks that it went up but robbery implies that someone is taking advantage of you and I don’t see that.

I planted food plots and ran irrigation this year, It was cheaper than corn since no one else around me has been feeding.

Farmers down here getting paid right & left for their fields. The midwest ain't doing so good and that is the bell cow for corn supply. Gonna get tougher.

$14.95 is what I was quoted by a local shop myself over the phone yesterday, I'll be buying closer to my lease where the prices are a whole $3 less. Hurting either way ya look at it!
