Stud showed up

I have been on this property for over 40 years. There was one other deer about 30 years ago that was spotted like this one. This is post oak savanna and these type deer just aren’t usually here. This is at my deer feeder about 1/4 mile from the house. This is the first time he’s been on camera. Opening day just got more interesting.

Now he needs to show up during shooting light…..

Really guys, even with my ole eyes that not a hard choice, pick up rifle, load cartridge, acquire target, take rifle off safety, pull trigger. Then whoop and shout oh yea baby, thank you Lord.

No more pics of him. I hope he hangs around. I’m staying out of the area but will be checking the feeder this weekend. Steady doe traffic, hope that’s what brings him in come rut time. I’ll hunt this one hard.

Hunted hard today, saw 2 above average 8 pointers, one was doing some serious lip curling. No sign of the 10. Signs are pointing to rut here though. Buddy had 2 fighting for 10 min. ( prolly 3😂) not far from here. I’ll be back out tomorrow, I waited until we’ll after dark to sneak out.

Well I haven’t seen him in almost 3 months but he made it through the season but he lost a lot of weight. No broken tines though. Now to get him on the protein!

He did not, he taunted me by showing up the night before the opener. I hunted him hard and saw him once for a bout 3 seconds.

Should be anytime but all the bucks here still have their horns. I’ll be looking for these sheds in a couple weeks.
