I have some work to do this weekend. Had a single cow jumping in. She must have busted down the pen somewhere and then had the audacity to invite her friends. I cannot make out her tag number. Game on.

46 x 46 with 3 inch corner and gate posts with 34 inch hog panels. T Posts at each joint and in the middle of the 16 foot panels. Going to be adding me some Gaucho wire. The T Post you are seeing is for the cottonseed basket.

Here's a better photo without so much in the way. STX will get all excited.

Yeah and he has the same look in his eye that I had when at the Golden Stallion.

Belly deep grass and they chose WCS and protein over it. Gonna take an electric wire to stop them I am afraid to say.

I had a pen with 34 in. high and had hogs jumping in so had to add 6 inches and had to add barb wire above that for aggressive cows. You have work to do..good luck

You may have to go to 50" cattle panels in place of the hog panels when I had a bull do this on one pen that had bufflegrass in it. I cut down a panel at 3 places where I wanted the deer to jump into the pen.

My experience with pens is once the cows know the feed is there, they can smell it and they will just go through the pen. Cows are strong animals with a lot of mass. Gonna have to really reinforce that big time, or put out some electric fence like STX suggested.

Damn that sucks!!!

I'd bet it was the cotton seed more than the protein that got their attention.

All it takes is one PITA and then the rest follow suit.

From what the photos seemed to show, they went after and consumed all the protein and then went after the cotton seed. Hate stretching and tying wire by myself. We'll have to see how that works. I believe the winch is going to come in handy.

yep, once they find it and figure out how to get in, it's tough to keep them out. I would go to the 50" panels with a couple of lower cut outs. We had to do that in one pasture of a ranch in the lower panhandle.

From what can be seen from the photos, there is one light colored cow who is jumping in. The cow is easily identifiable, but I cannot make out the number on her ear tag. hoping to figure that out this weekend. They'll work cows the 1st weekend of October. May have to provide the rancher with some incentive and hope i am right with the assertion she is the single culprit.

One pen is strong and there has never been another in it. The other never got a corral gate leaving that pen ridiculously easy to walk over. I have a couple of photos where I saw her jumping in. After a couple of times in there, it is obvious she pushed over the panel serving as the gate and then the party started. Need place agate and then run wire on top.

Just picked up the gate and a roll of Gaucho from the Co-op. Here's hoping my solution fixes the issue.

Nobody else could come down. Drove around leading a 16 foot blade from 7-5 on Friday. Drove around looking at all the things I missed or should have done better after dinner.

Got out there this morning with gate and that damn gotcha wire. A twenty minute job for two men with wire can easily turn into almost two hours when this wannabe outdoorsman works alone. Used winch on my truck, got it tight and tied it off. Sounds really simple. Hung the gate and got it done. I am sure someone else could've been quicker and better. They weren't here.

Go to 2nd pen and found where they had broken the wire I had strung two weeks before. Lord knows I love this endeavor which helps me to prepare for whatever comes up. I am fortunate.
