Throwing out corn

Throwing out corn - 07/12/21 01:12 AM

I’ve been feeding corn to the deer on this place for over a decade. The deer seem happy about it. A couple of months ago my wife was getting upset that there weren’t as many deer in the yard as there had been in previous years. As always, there were plenty of deer, but they had plenty to eat in the woods and fields. She just wasn’t seeing them. No big deal…but yes, it was a big deal to her. So, I started throwing out a good bunch of corn each morning about 9ish. Now I have a yard full of deer every day, and this years crop of fawns. I can drive in and out of the place and the deer don’t leave the corn. They just watch me come and go. All is well, you might say. Well…no! Now she says that they are eating too much corn, and that it isn’t healthy. I suggested that she run them off the corn when she sees them overeating, or maybe hire a nutritionist.

The woman is gonna make me crazy. I already know how I’m going to eventually die. It’ll be a heart attack from some crazy thing she says..

Well, I’ll be laid up from tomorrow’s shoulder surgery for a number of weeks, so she can feed them or not.

Lol! There’s always something for them to fuss about.

My wife gripes about the squirrels that eat on the pears in our tree. She doesn’t like pears so I don’t see what the problem is, but it irritates her

Good luck with the shoulder

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. One good thing is you will have time to heal by hunting season! I am only a couple of hours from you and if you need a hand with anything, let me know.

Thanks guys! I’m sure I’ll be fine, and I’m absolutely sure I’ll be griping. I griped in high school football, griped in the Marines, and many other times and places. No reason to break my streak now.

Good luck with your surgery. Im going right by your place this Wed, heading to San Antonio. If you want I can drop off one of those soft squushy "ice pads" that you stick in freezer and then lay over shoulder for the pain. I think they work better than that ice bucket wrap drippy thing. Serious offer.

Hope the surgery goes well and it gets you fixed up. Ice is a great pain reliever for the shoulder, been there twice.

Thanks for the “cool” offers, but I have the ice packs, an Ice Man recirculating ice pack and an old cryo cuff. I’m set. Not looking forward to the surgery though.

Yeah, I'm either doing way too much or not enough around the place. I can go from the most overworked man in America to the laziest azz one in a matter of hours. roflmao

Mine is mad because of all the protein I've fed the ones at our place and ......'You're not even going to shoot any of them'! roflmao

after 26 years of marriage and 34 together I'd suggest this to you........as long as she is on you about something she is doing good and healthy so give thanks. grin

She's just making sure you know she's there after your spending all that time teaching other womens to shoot.

Good luck with this.
I've had several friends have their shoulders operated on and they said it was a tough one to get fully rebounded from.
DO NOT push it too much too fast!!
