Age? Ground check? - 12/17/20 03:34 AM
Got this guy visiting on the regular but can’t decide if he’s 5.5 or 4.5. He does not have great horn structure to become something great but we try to shoot em old and in their peak. Let me know what y’all think.
Thanks

He was 4.5 either last year or the year before

He is fluffed up due to cold or another buck close by....but he looks mature. He looks 5 in those pics but it depends on when the pic was taken....pre-rut, rut or post rut. He appears to have staining down his back legs also. He has a lot of neck and front shoulder/brisket to be any younger than 5.
i would call him 5 and not fully mature......

I’d call him 5.5 as well, if you feel you can let him go without being whacked next door he looks like he could be a stud in a couple more years.

South Texas take. Yesterday and they are in the rut and he had another buck close by.
I'd call him min 5 and it doesn't matter what he may be next year(he is a typical TX 8) I vote make him in to dry sausage

Kill him like STXRM stated
He will be mighty tasty as spicy garlic dried sausage!
