He never came closer than 250 yards, so I didn’t get great pics. He’s a beast MF 8 with a couple nice kickers. We have never seen him before tonight. I just ran up to the ranch to do some chores and jumped in a blind late with nothing but my binocs. I put a cam out after the hunt. Hopefully he sticks around a while...

I can remember many times in the past when guys in camp would ask me if I was going to take a gun when going out and about on the lease. My usual answer was "No, because if I take a gun I won't see anything."

Nice buck - I can't say that I've ever gone to a blind without a gun though. If a hog happens by, I always want to be prepared to shoot em.

Last weekend I lost my prescription sunglasses somewhere between shooting a doe, loading her in the RTV, driving back to camp, field dressing, hauling gut bucket to bone yard, parking RTV back at camp ... that was when I realized they were misplaced ... I got the tag filled out and on her in the shed (MLD3), grabbed my rifle and back into the RTV to retrace where all I had been. It was dark by the time I got back to camp and no, I did not find my glasses.

Even during the off season, I have a rifle handy, even on my tractor for that matter when shredding/plowing. I'm not trying to be an arse or judging, I just wonder why ...

I would be hopping on one leg all the way back to camp, because my foot would be lost so far up my azz from the kicking I gave myself

What a buck man. I hope you get another chance at him. Hell, 250 yards is slam dunk out of a stand with a good rest and an accurate rifle.

LOL I have gone to the blind in the morning. It got light and I looked down and I had my house shoes on. Forgot to change into my boots! Felt pretty stupid

Have also packed up and drove to lease. Forgot my gun. Went to town and bought a cheap one and then sold it on ebay

I leave my seat cushion in truck sometimes. I have a tender butt and hate sitting in a hard plastic seat in a tripod without it.

New rule, never go to stand without rifle! Lol

My dummy nephew went hunting with one bullet once. Yes, he shot a nice buck and it went down where he shot it. Then a minute or so later it got up and walked off never to be seen again.

I was in such a hurry to get on the road once I left all of my ammo in a briefcase in my apartment 400 miles away. Didn't know it until I was getting ready to hunt Sat AM.
I had a 7mm Mag, a .30-30 and a .30-06 in the truck. Everyone I was hunting with were using .270s.
So after breakfast I had to drive into Carizo Springs to get ammo for the rifles and because we were also going to hunt dove and quail I had to ge a few boxes of shelles.

Waiting. Still. I had a friend kill a huge buck in S TX the other day and when he walked up to the dead buck just 6 feet away there was a mountain lion on the deer. I wouldnt believe yall either but hes a great friend and it happened. Anyway, I hope that didnt happen in this case and the lion got the best of Gros........ Well he would of had a rifle at least......

Sorry for the delay. Two of my best friends in the world and their families are visiting from Georiga, so I’ve been guiding, entertaining, and cooking. We have 8 kids ages 3-12 among us, so it’s pretty non-stop. The first evening I did finally manage to get in a blind. I had gotten a few pics on my trail cam since the first sighting, and the buck looked just as good as I thought he would and also appeared to be post mature. He came in chasing a doe just like the first time, but this time I was ready. I love the look of this deer. MF 8 with two kickers on his right g2 and another 1 incher on his g3. He has uncommonly good main beams for our place. I put a tape on him if anyone wants to take a guess.

152 an that’s adding in the broke brow-If they grow it we give it. I probably wouldn’t of gotten that high without your beam hint. Hes really great but seems real light on mass. No prior years history on him?

You guys are good. He taped out and 153.875. The right main beam was almost 25 inches and the left was almost 26.

The right brow wasn’t actually broke. It was just short and bladed. Maybe something happened in velvet.

We have a 2016 pic of a buck that could be him, but it’s unlikely.
