Besides corn, what else???

Besides corn, what else??? - 11/18/20 06:34 PM

Of course, the number one deer food attractant out there is corn. But does anyone else use something else (food) that would attract deer better? I have seen some bags of feed with black sunflower seed as well as roasted soybeans. Others have said that golden deer nuggets are better than corn. What do you use?

Tried a lot of things in the last 30 years. Now its Golden Nugget from February to September and corn year round. Just as many deer came to corn as they did to anything else. It looks like once they find a food source they will return until availability stops.

peanuts, peanut butter, boiled peanuts, roasted peanuts, chocolate covered peanuts, bamba, ants on a log, Chikki, deep fried peanuts, goobers, pad thai, peanut flour, peanut butter cookies, nutty bars, nutter butters, peanut paste.

I'm all in on peanuts. They grow booners.

I don't think there is anything that attract deer better than corn. Do your own test on your deer. Put out a camera
on a pile of corn, a pile of soybeans, a pile of black sunflower seeds, a pile of peanuts and watch which gets eaten first.

I have good luck with roasted soybeans. I find the deer will preferentially go to roasted soybeans over corn, but they do like the corn too.

Buck grub mixed in with corn seems to attract more bucks, better bucks for me...It's a protein powder type attractant..

Ours are so hungry right now, as long as they know it's food, they'd come to anything. Please send us some rain, Lord!

I mix golden nuggets and corn half and half, but make sure you have a good feeder... The raccoons try very hard to get at um!

Stopped to pick up feed at L & E a few weeks back and I saw a fellow with a whole truck load of peanuts. I asked about it and he said they hand feed the peanuts as "treats" for their pen raised deer.....

Dumb question -- how do you feed peanuts? Protein feeder with the tubes opened all the way up?

Try the textured deer feed or the old horse and mule feed which is cheaper.

For us the order goes like this:

1. Beech nuts
2. White oak acorns
3. Any sweet fruit or root (sugar beets, apples, pears etc..) and corn
