How much can your butt take poll

How much can your butt take poll - 11/05/20 09:20 PM

Some guys can't sit past 8am while others can easily stay in their stand for hours on end.

How long do you intend to stay in your stand on Saturday morning?

I put down 11am, but my stand leave time is 10:30 unless conditions are right. Cold front, etc. Then as long as I can stand it.
I did pull an all day'er last year as it never got out of the 20's, frost everywhere, no wind at all. Never saw a deer.

I usually plan on sitting until around 11 but I've been known to sit all day.

Depends on weather, deer movement, rut timing and how much sleep I got the night before.

Going to be a hot weekend so I'll play it by ear.

to many what-ifs but if I am out by myself, I can stay pretty much all day. Typically, there is someone else that will be heading back to camp, so I usually will head back 11-12 o'clock and then back in the stand by 2-3 until well past shooting light

Someone has admitted they will be gone by 8am. I applaud such honesty.

None of the choices apply to me. I will be walking and glassing in an area that has both mulies and whitetails. Mostly I'm going to be scouting for mulies but will be packing my 7 mag just in case a nice fat whitetail doe wants to dance.

9am generally unless activity on cell cam suggests otherwise.

I have sat all day and I've left before 9am. Depends on activity and weather. And how much coffee I drank.

I'm only 5'8 so I could lay down on the floor of my blind and take a nap. I also like getting out and still hunting. It always seemed to me that after I woke up from a good nap there would be some deer.

About 3/4 times a year I sit until about 11am, all other 9 max

I’m anxious as hell naturally

Re: How much can your butt take poll - 11/06/20 03:25 AM

I normally like to sit and glass for 2 hours, at least, before moving. Most of my hunting is sitting on the ground on a foam pad. If I know I will be out for a long while, I will take along a folding camp chair. I have sat in box blinds before, but never had the luxury of a Mr. Buddy heater yet. smile This year, in both Arizona and Wyoming at 10 degrees, I had on two sets of long johns, a heavy shirt, polar fleece vest, and heavy wind stopper jacket in order to make the first two hours on the spotting scope!!!

11am most days, but some I sit all day.

Dang you guys leaving your stands at 9 a.m. are surely missing a lot of deer. Many times I've seen where the deer didn't start moving until around that time!
I guess it was how I was taught. If I ever left my stand at 9 a.m. I'd have to have had a good excuse or a deer on the ground.

Re: How much can your butt take poll - 11/06/20 01:12 PM

I put down 9 but I leave at 9:30 most days. I’m going to try to hunt before work some, mornings and may only hunt till 8 or 9.

I have mandatory meetings from 2-4 nov 16th -20th I can’t get out of. Those meetings may be from my deer stand with my hot spot in tow.

With work stuff seems to get in the way!!!

Re: How much can your butt take poll - 11/06/20 02:05 PM

I could sit all day if needed, but rarely do

West Texas - once the corn is gone so am I

East Texas - I've been known to stay all day

Really cloudy or rainy days have made me stay several hours longer in W Texas when the deer were moving, but I still got out of the stand to hit the test button on my feeders or throw some road corn

Depends upon the weather and deer movement. Usually until around 10:30, sometimes earlier other times later.

10:30 usually, but get me out on the bay, and I'll be there all day. "Just 10 more casts."
