First Bow Kill - 10/26/20 02:32 PM
Decided it was time to pick up a bow, have been rifle hunting my whole life. Well fast forward to two weeks ago we have had a big 8 on camera pretty regularly knowing he beds on the neighbors property. Get away from work and slip into the stand. Shows up but doesn't give me a shot I would be comfortable taking. I knew from then I would target that deer. Well this last week, noticed he's changed his pattern, but still in the same area. All the pictures we had of him were in the morning 7-7:30 clockwork 3 days on 1 off, but had a good idea of the trail he would be taking to bed, conditions were perfect to have a first evening showing so I thought why not sit and see if he shows up in the evening. Well to my surprise a young buck shows up and is acting like hes getting followed. Well then you know who walks out next, its him! After a few minutes of fighting I was able to get an absolutely perfect shot off 25 yards broadside, didn't make it 15 yards before he folded over. Would've loved to watch him go another year, but know for a fact if he stayed regular he would not love past rifle season.
