COVID driving up deer processing costs

This may have been discussed earlier but has anyone found their usual deer meat processor charging significantly more this year as a result of COVID? It would seem to make sense when you consider the impact on the prices of beef and pork.

Have meat prices gone up? I hit HEB almost weekly and havent really seen the increase. I bought a bunch of ribs chicken and a few pork butts a few weeks ago for my son's b-day party and it all seemed pretty normal.

My grinder and stuffer wont charge me any more than they always do.

The pork farm-to-retail price spread peaked back in June so maybe it's the farmers who are catching all the squeeze. Not knowing the details of how processors buy their meat is what prompted the question.

Didn't see much difference from last year. I just picked up my granddaughter's deer from the processor. $118 for 30#s of boudin and 25 pounds of ground mixed with 33% pork. I kept one hind quarter and made jerky, also kept the backstraps and tenderloin.

Mine has gone up $10, which is not that surprising. He also processes quartered deer for about $15 less than that. He may get quartered deer from me this year. As long as he can hang them in the cooler to age.

I just had a 140 lb field dress buck processed into steak and hamburger....tenderized the steaks and added a little beef fat to the burger. Cost was $90.

That's a good price. Where was it?
