Good luck out there, let us know how it goes.
This is the first time in many years that I haven't been out on the opening of archery.

You pointed stick guys have fun, be safe, and don't sweat too much! laugh

I'm leisurely enjoying my coffee and will head out in the Bronco here in a little bit and start laying down does with my .280. (MLD)

Any action?

We had a couple of young bucks coming in and they got spooked by a small pack of small hogs. The hogs didn’t even get in range for a bow shot, how rude. Still sitting waiting for mama doe to come out.

Still waiting here. Haven’t seen anything yet but going by the trail cams from the last week 9-11am were my best times

1 spike and a young buck. No slick heads yet. I think they’re all sleeping in. And why did my feeder go off at 8:30?!

Re: It’s time. - 10/03/20 03:54 PM

Just got back from my lease!
I saw 15 total, and most were small fours, sixes, and 1 nice ten point, and 2 nine point, and about three eights.....All out of bow range by the way!
Turkeys were strutting around and several hens cleaning up the corn the deer didn't pick up.
Fun morning!

Saw a total of 15 doe and fawns. Checked my camera from the stand I didn’t hunt this morning and had the first hogs I’ve seen on the place right at daylight. Maybe they will be back this evening. Will have the trusty .223 just in case.

Had 1 lone doe walk thru around 100 yards out, too far for a bow shot. Later a lone spotless fawn came thru pushed by me by another hunter leaving the woods. Nothing but crows coming in to the corn, had to make some noise to run them off.

East TX here, no deer for me but a lease member killed a ~210 lb ~140 inch 9 PT. Beautiful mature buck.

Re: It’s time. - 10/03/20 07:12 PM

It was a really nice and cool morning down south here on my place. I ended up seeing 6 bucks and 4 does...I put my bow and things in the blind then fed extra corn around for the hunt. I had does on corn within 5 minutes of me driving off to park the Ranger and they were back in 15 minutes after I got into the blind at 6:30. They ate corn then the does left when the bucks showed up when the feeder went off at 7:07. They stayed around for 20 minutes then something caught their attention and then ended up leaving in the direction they were looking. Later one buck came back but did not eat corn. Hogs have moved back in the last week and are at all 3 of my bowblinds most of the night. Making it tough to keep any corn out to bait deer in. I did have a couple of friends text me some pics of nice bucks killed on their leases. Other friends did not see much at all this morning.

Had a neighborhood mature 8 mount a doe in my front yard yesterday morning. He got cut short by a guy walking by with his dog. Buck dismounted the doe, and waited for the walker to go by. The doe continued to stand for him for a couple minutes, but I guess he lost his momentum. Buck just went to grazing, doe did also. Guess the buck needed a viagra!

Can anyone help me. I felt like I made a good shot this evening. I found the arrow and a blood trail. Tracked him about 250 yards after waiting an hour. Can anyone look at pictures of the arrow and tell me where they think I may have hit? This is all new to me and is a learning experience by yourself for sure.

What happened at the end of the trail? Did the blood just go away? I assume you didn’t find the deer?

Probably because you set it at the wrong time.
