Well Crap... - 09/27/20 03:18 AM
I think my trail camera bit the dust... It's very evident something has been eating the corn (got a few pics of Crows) but there also deer and pig, or just pig tracks all in front of the camera. no pictures, it took pictures of the crows in the Day time and pictures of me in the daytime, must be not working at night.. It shows it's set to take pictures 24 hrs (day and night).... it's the Wild Game Innovations Vision Lightsout 8 MP Micro Digital Trail Camera. Only a 1 year warranty (got it for Christmas, 2017)...
I'm going to go pull the card tomorrow and see what it says...

I had the same problem with one camera last year, changed batteries, performed a new "set-up" and it worked fine. not sure if it was the batteries or the reset
... it's the Wild Game Innovations
That's the problem. I've never bought anything with that name on it that lasted. I don't have real good luck with any game cams, but Moultrie and Stealthcam have been better than most.

I had an issue like that. Took the camera apart and there was a dried up bug near the infrared sensor. Blew it out and it worked again.

Yep, i think it's done. pulled the card today, no night pictures, and no day pictures except of crows several days ago... and it's very evident pigs/deer have been to the feeder.
EDIT
brought it home and punched the reset button, reset all the settings, it took pictures..... guess i'll put it back out tomorrow and see..

One trick that's worked for me across multiple brands of trail cameras is to put a bit of dielectric grease on the connectors before putting the batteries in. I've found that most of my failures have been been from moisture causing corrosion on connectors. Even the brass ones get heavy patina in there that can cause issues.
For what it's worth, I've have decent experience with Moultrie and have an old Browning that's pretty reliable. Other brands have crapped out after one season.

I have one WGI camera a friend gave me 2 or 3 yrs ago and it does the same thing every once in a while but it when the batteries or one battery gets bad. Might try a fresh set of batteries before buying a new one.

There are much better brands than WGI and they don't usually cost that much more.

I have about 25 cameras...when I use the Duracell bat.s I have problems. I called the service dep. They told me the problem is using Duracell batteries. I changed to using Allstate batteries...works fine. I also used some Everlast. I get more time using the Allstate. Something to try anyway. I buy the Allstates for 24 for $8.00.

After 5 years running a Browning StrikeForce 10MP, I can't recommend them. I bought a $99 SpyPoint cell cam and put it on the same tree and found out the Browning was missing animals when I compared the pics. It also has a bad habit of taking pictures of nothing, 100's...

I have 3 of the WGI cameras and have had problems in the past, but one thing I have discovered is when you delete pictures on the card and re-use it, the camera doesn't recognize that the pictures are deleted. If you get a lot of pictures, it will think the card is full and won't continue to save pics. After deleting the pictures, make sure to empty the trash can and there won't be any record of the old pics left to confuse the camera. Keeping fresh batteries is also a good idea. At the price point of these cameras, I don't expect a long life out of these, but they have been going strong for a while now (4 years for 1) and I use them year round.
