Age and Score # 11- 7 year progression - 05/18/20 10:48 PM

Pics of this deer from 09 thru 15 except for 2010. We probably had pics but he wasn’t big enough to track maybe. Wasn’t big enough for most to want to kill but he was very hard to hunt the last few years. Not a lot of great pics but still interesting cause so many years. Keep in mind the first year he was no spring chick. Have fun.

I'm thinking 4-10 years old... peaked at 7

Hoss of a body at the beginning, really liked him in ‘13 when he was almost touching at nearly every tine

Seemed to take a big dive in 14 only to recover some in 15. Was there a bad drought year in 14 that you remember?

Man these year to year pics are great.
Thanks for posting.

He really lost a lot of tine length after 2013.
I'd have to guess this deer at 8.5+ and probably 9.5 due to the drop in 2014 unless that was just a horribly bad year for yall on rain.

In 12 and 13 the pics his head is real close to camera and body is way away so that throws off all perspective. I don't think he is as big those years as he may appear. Not that much drop off to the next years. Without giving away my estimate of his age just understand that he had to be older and post mature in the later years so no nutrition issue would be needed to see a drop off(other than having to gum his food maybe.) Remember no protein so hes trying to survive and regrow antlers off Mother Nature. Also, you may not be able to see but he goes from an 8 to a 10 the last couple years-shorter tines but more of them. Thanks for the comments, keep em coming.

That makes a big difference in when the 'drop off' comes and how much. Deer that have come to a protein feeder regularly even on large ranches sometimes don't see a significant drop off until after 8 or even 9 sometimes.

And yes indeed he added the two points later but definitely lost some tine length. Not sure but looking at the 2015 pic of him (last pic) he probably has his best brow tines and most mass. I'm guessing that he may have more bone in that picture than any of the other years.
