I know the going away isn't fair but I couldn't resist. Same day same stand as the other two threads. It was a good day. My third day to ever hunt this Ranch. One more of him coming if im lucky.

4.5 and upper 130s to 140

Re: Age and Score 3 - 05/15/20 02:31 AM

4.5 130-133 doesn’t get full spread credit due to beam length

B-44
S-22
M-29

G1-9
G2-12
G3-14

I agree with BOBO, the main beams are week and cut into width score ! He may be a year older, but width is really all he has going for himself!

Re: Age and Score 3 - 05/15/20 03:19 AM

I understand the spread credit thing but i usually don't subtract it on a gross score. Just me maybe and it comes up so infrequent. I agree hes mostly just got the width but everybody likes wide.
Bobo, so your saying his beams are 22 and his spread is more than 22...?

Yes with out a side ways pic, think his spread is 24-26

Your wish is my command. Doesn't even seem like same deer since his beams go forward that much since they seem to go straight out in the headons. [Linked Image]

I've got this deer older than most here do. Almost looks like a deer in decline in the very first pic posted...

Re: Age and Score 3 - 05/15/20 04:30 PM

Definitely not as blocked in the jaw as I would think, but guessing here that deer is 6 1/2 . Pretty certain he is at least 5 1/2, but that one photo where is front leg angle dangle is detailed, makes me believe 6 1/2. Flat 130 or so. Would love to see him alive and moving.

This one needs to be taken as a management deer.

mrbuck, I don't know if hes in decline but I have him older than the 4 that many have said. One thing about it is he will be a year older this coming season. Hardly any trigger pulling on this Ranch, ever.

Of course we could debate Management bucks all day and I certainly don't want to get into that. The landowner here has an interesting theory. A lot of the really big bucks they have killed through the many years have been main frame 8 points that sprouted kickers and drops later in life. They really like to see them get old if they have a good frame at all. Actually the small handful of family that's all that's ever hunted it almost never kill anything at all so there really isn't much rhyme or reason to what get kills unless they are real big.

I respectfully disagree - that deers spread is nowhere near 24-26 inches - beautiful and nice buck but where the heck is anyone seeing a 24-26 inch spread? THIS is a 25-26 inch spread

Re: Age and Score 3 - 05/17/20 05:12 PM

This deer was touch over 26 and 249 lbs in the hoof. You are comparing STX deer to Oklahoma deer with KS type genetics. I’ll measure a Webb deer and Oklahoma deer ear when I get home, big difference

Not saying his deer is 26 but it could easily be 24

By the way Bobo, theres a couple of my Age and Scores you haven't jumped in on.
