Anyone using this load for deer? Curious as to effectiveness of the 87 grain bullet under the lighter powder load.
I know it and the 30-06 125 grain are very fun shooting from the bench.

Ive used 110 grainers out of a 270 that worked very well.
When using reduced ammo I try to keep my shot distances 100 yards and in and like always try to keep the placement as perfect as possible.

My son has shot them and killed many hogs and a few deer with no issues, all 100yds or less tho. I also reload him some 'light' loads and no issues taking down game, but yes with good shot placement.

We’ve used it a few times with no issues.

My wife killed a cull axis with that round at about 90 yards. Did not exit but dropped him and expired him quickly. Typical plastic tip internal damage. I see it as a good kid/wife round up to 200 yrds. Good for target shooting as well. Some of those youth or compact rifles can be pretty light weight.

My son use the Hornady Lite loads in .270 for 7 years. Shot several deer and hogs. It always killed the animal and quickly, however, there's almost never much blood. Better make a good shot. I wouldn't hesitate to use the .243 Hornady Lite load, but I agree to keep it within 100 yards.
