I am ready for deer season

I am ready for deer season - 09/18/19 04:40 PM

As of an hour ago, I have done everything that needed to be done prior to the season. Feeders are Ok and full, rifles are sighted in, blinds are in fine shape, and all roads are mowed. Was it Barry White that sang “let’s get it ooonnn”?

My neck is swelling. I can feel it.

I'm doing last thing today after work. Driving to property and planting the food plots as it is supposed to rain for next two days.

busy next couple of days ... heading to west Texas tomorrow (600+ miles round trip) to check game cameras to see if our ranch was impacted by the Anthrax outbreak, if there is still any deer, I will fill the feeders. Then Friday, load up tractor and head to my place in central TX (100 mile round trip) to plow & plant food plots. Then Saturday head to our east TX lease (400 mile round trip) with tractor to get food plots plowed & planted and get travel trailer set up in a new location at camp. Sunday pack up and fly to NH for business most of the week, fly home Thursday, load up hunting gear and pull out Friday heading back to east TX for opening weekend of deer season ... I'm tired just thinking about it.

I never feel like I’m 100% on top of things but I’m in good enough shape to hunt.

Need to fix one feeder still and top off the corn feeders and then chainsaw some cedar along the roads

I still have tractor work, plots etc. Rifle I plan to hunt with on the bench in pieces. I have two feeders still in the box.

This thing called work and hot weather seem to get in the way. I hope to get it all knocked out this weekend, except the rifle. Got to get ready for bow season!!!!

My deer blind is sitting in my garage, waiting on tower. Really wanted it in the air prior to bow season starting but that's not gonna happen.

My favorite spot is ready! Need to stop by one more time and adjust times. Got 5 feeders going. Blinds look fine. We had to set one back up and replace floor. Still need to get 3 more running and pens and limbs cleared. Needs to cool off first! Done working in 90 degree temps. I got the firewood rack loaded at camp and all Christmas lights replaced for evening ambiance.

Everything is done except planting food plots. Need rain to help soften the 'hard pan'.
