Buying a place 10 miles west of town, 1/3 mile off the red river. I also will have whiskey creek running right through the middle of my property. Wanted to see if anyone has hunted this area and what I might expect with quality of deer, and amount of hogs and turkey . Thanks for any input.

Thats a good spot. Lots of turkey and pigs in that area and some good sized deer along the river also.

I just checked my phone and I guess I no longer have the pic but 2 years ago our neighbor shot a 179 monster. I was in my stand and heard him shoot it too
Of course those aren’t under every tree but that general area has some good deer
Quail Hunted Just west of Waurika for years. Lots of game, we saw some decent bucks and found a few good sheds, bunches of hogs and turkeys in the area.
Have not hunted that area, but I did buy my own piece of ground 2.5 years ago in Kansas. Best decision I ever made buying my own little place. Congratulations on the purchase, I hope its everything you want it to be.
I live just south of Waurika in Petrolia, TX and go through there often. You will definitely be eating at Bill's Catfish often, its awesome! There are also two lakes there, Jap Beaver and Lake Waurika. Jap Beaver is a tiny lake with a lot of vegetation it is a fun little bass lake that is perfect if you are into kayak fishing but also has a ramp for a boat. Lake Waurika is a good size lake with good crappie and hybrid fishing they also have walleye! I believe both of these lakes have public hunting opportunities as well but I have never looked into it to heavily. You should have a TON of pigs which will give you something to shoot at year round we kill tons all along the river but that also means unless you can keep constant pressure on them you will definitely need to have feeder pens. Duck hunting can be good as well. Turkeys are hit and miss around here, you either got em or you don't but being close to the river should help you especially if you have some large trees on the property. As far as deer quality goes density is hit or miss but quality is for sure there. If you want to pm me I have pics you would probably be interested in.
