Another Age Question

Another Age Question - 12/31/18 04:04 AM

I have 3 different deer that I would love some help on aging. Two are deer that we actually shot this year. My brother and I. He got to kill his first buck this year and was extremely proud of it.

First deer is one we have had on camera in November but let it walk because my wife's uncle says he is too young to shoot. I thought the same but then again I am not great at this aging thing anyway.

I will post the pics of the deer we shot in a separate post...

This is the deer I shot. My second buck. Shot my first last year. A young 7 point.

This is the buck my brother shot. Different county than the one I shot mine in but from the same county as the one that we have on camera...

You’re uncle is correct. 3 year old.

I would call your buck 3-4. The other 2-3.

What makes you think 4-5 on the buck in the game camera picture? I was thinking his neck is real thin but his eyes make him look older. I’m really just not sure about that one. Wish I had a better picture of him.

White coloring around eyes and head has an older look. Has a rutted down look to me. Looks 4 maybe a bit more to me.

Interesting. I hope he is around next year in October during bow season. Maybe I can get a better look at him.

Top buck looks 3 to me in those pics to me. What was the date on those pics? Looks awfully green.

Can’t remember the date exactly but it was close to opening weekend in early November.
