Re: OMG RAIN opening weekend - 10/24/18 02:06 PM

this weekend should be good

i was talking about the adult rifle season November 4th.

i'm not on a lease. i have great friends who are and they invite me to come hunt during the week when the other hunters arent there. i only shoot does and culls. i have two on the calendar and i guess we could reschedule but the first two weeks is when the hunting is best , after that, the bucks go nocturnal.

i have my annual father daughter hunt with an outfitter near thanksgiving, no rescheduling that one , fingers crossed, nothing you can do about it.

i bought some waterproof spray to spray on my waterproof goretex clothes. got my
muck boots ready.

Put the big boy pants on and do some hunting in the rain wink You'll probably have the woods mostly to yourself, a lot of people won't hunt in the rain.

I pulled up the 10 day forecast for Rocksprings and started to get excited that the lows are in the upper 20's with sunshine.
Then I realized I was looking at Rocksprings Wyoming, Looks like muggy and rain in Texas

My girls seem to always have some kind of dance recital opening youth weekend.

I don't mind hunting in the rain, if it is a light rain and not a downpour. But regardless, I will be out there opening morning way before light.

Best best buck was in a horrific storm, down pour. My 2nd and 3rd best bucks also in the rain. I hunt when I can go rain, shine, snow all better than 90+

I don't mind hunting in the rain but every opening weekend I cook BBQ for 50+. Cook all day Friday so I can hunt Saturday. Doing it in the rain is less than desireable.

They can't forecast more than 72 hours out with any accuracy. 5, 7 & 10 day forecasts are a gimmick because people wanted them.

Rain, isn't that why they make rain gear?

They can't forecast an hour in advance with any accuracy! LOL

I always said that a weatherman has the only job where you can be wrong every single day of your career and still keep your job.

Best hunt is just after the rain.

No kidding. Extended just let's you know if a major front is coming for the most part. I have never had a deer hunt postponed due to weather. Opening looks great if it holds together.
