Christensen Arms Ridgeline? Reloading - 09/06/18 09:20 AM

So, I just ordered a Ridgeline in 28 Nosler. Do any of you have any experience reloading for this gun? Looking for a powder/projectile combination that it will like. It's got 1/9 twist in a 26" carbon fiber wrapped barrel. I'm probably going to start with a 185 gr Berger. Any ideas?

I don't see where Berger makes a 185 grain 7mm bullet? If you are looking at the 195 Berger, the 1:9" twist is too slow for proper stability on the 195 grain. I have fired this bullet in a 7 Mag 1:9" twist and had it key hole at 200 yards, but gave round holes at 100. I know of a few shooters who have tried the bullet in a 28, and they said it worked at 100 yards. But the bullet is closer to full unstability than it is being even marginally stable.

The best bullet I have seen in the Christensen is the 175 ELD-X. I have also seen some 160 Accubonds and 162 ELD-X shoot well, and those are screaming fast!

Great info. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the help.

You're right. I was thinking about the 180 gr VLD. I'm new to the 7mm game so I'm still getting used to the offerings from all the different mfg's. Thanks again for the info. I'm probably going to have 2 loads for this rifle. One will be the 165-168 gr (depending on the mfg) and the other will be the 180's if I can get them to stabilize out of the 1:9 twist. May have to stick with a 175gr max and in a few years order a new barrel.

The 180 VLD and 175 ELD-X will stabilize just fine out of the 1:9" twist.
