Anyone hunt out of a high rack? Been wanting to get one for my ranger to hunt some sendero's we don't have blinds on.

I hunted out of one that we put on a Ranger 6x6 back in 2003 till 2006. As heavy as that one was, I do not think it would have worked on a regular 4x4 Ranger very well. The biggest issue beside the weight on that one was the stress on the frame of it. Later on we added a better and more adjustable shooting rail to it. I would hollow out a hole in the brush so that I could park it and be able shoot over the brush tops. Was great to rattle out of during the rut. A buddy had one on Kubota UTV out in West Texas and it worked great out there for mule deer. That ranch had very little elevation to glass from and it was amazing how getting up just a little changed how well you could see those deer. His was very well built and handle the rougher terrain very well. There was a company out of SE Texas building them out of aluminum. That lighter weight would be really good on the newer Rangers.

STX, remember Chad and Cole Starr? They can build a really nice one. They bought what used to be "Tops and Towers", who may be the co. in SETX that you were thinking of, and integrated into their boat business, Coastline Marine.

I have a friend that owns a fab shop where I live, mostly does farm implements and crawfish boats, he and I are engineering one for a ranger over a couple of cold drinks when I get back home. Finding a bench seat will be the issue.

What about cutting down a tripod stand so one leg mounts to the roll bar and the other two in the bed. Light weight and easily removable?

Or modify so one leg attaches to front grill guard and the "back" legs were modified into a wide ladder the width of the bed and mounted there?

That’s an awesome idea!
