Sorry. I can't seem to get the images loaded. The buck is skin and bones even the spine is showing. Hoping its not CWD.

Well. He's definitely emaciated. The question is why? Could be any number of ailments affecting deer. Never been a case of CWD in your county, nor are you in a CWD containment zone, so I seriously doubt that's what it is. If I were you, I'd kill the deer and take to a vet for necropsy. Or cut his head off about midway down the neck, and take to one of the voluntary CWD check stations near you. Keep the head refrigerated (not frozen) and take it to a check station within 24 hours. No later than 48 hours.

Please let us know what you find out.

www.tpwd.gov is where you can find the nearest drop off point for the head.

Sutton county is in the anthrax zone, I wouldn't mess with any animals found dead, but I'm with fouz, could be overloaded with parasites.
I'd show the pic to TPWD biologist.

Maybe a pericite, not thinking a very old deer, but not healthy by any means. Be careful what you wish for and please don't assume anything. How does the rest of your deer population look.

The one I found dead was a small buck. It looked like he had been dead a coupleof weeks. I did not hear anyone say they lost a deer on the place but I can't be sure. The rest of the herd looks healthy. The only one at my stand that looks bad is the one I sent in the picture.
