Where I hunt - pass - don't look to meet the required age criteria

Do the end points on the 2nd buck cross each other?

Any of the first three could stand to be killed... the last one I'd let pass for another 2-3 years. Hard to tell from the picture but he looks young. He has potential to be something special.
My opinion.

It all depends on where you hunt. Personally I'd take the last deer. He looks to be the most mature of the bunch (although its hard to tell) and he seems to be a solid symmetrical 10. Where I hunt, I'd kill that last one, but that's just me

Cull first one. Second and third need some more years. Fourth is tough to tell in pic, but also looks like he could benefit from another year. If I thought he was 5.5 yo, I would consider taking him.

Well I know for a fact at least one of the neighbors is going to take that last buck if he steps out. I lean more towards taking him if I can, but it's more from a "If I dont someone will" mentality. I would like a shot at the first, and I probably would take the second, just because he looks like he is relatively mature. Could be totally wrong, as I don't know a whole lot about aging deer. I am hoping that if I can make some good improvements that in 7 or 8 years these types of deer will be the abnormal vs. the common. Thanks for the input. I know the pics arent great, what would you guesstimate these deer at age wise?

Re: Would you take any of these bucks? - 10/31/17 07:22 PM
Probably not. At this point it's either gotta be a personal best, a deer for one of my kids, or a deer that just needs to go.
I would consider taking a deer that doesn't meet those requirements if it's super skittish or if it's aggressive and pushes other deer from my area

Also, that last buck is the only one that I dont have more pictures of. He showed up the one time and thats it. The others I have a couple pictures of, typically it seems like they are around for a couple days and then move on. The third one shows up the most though. Most of them are coming through right before and right after shooting light currently, with the odd pass through between 12 am and 2 am. I only have about two and a half weeks of pictures because I didnt do something correctly when I checked them the first time and so they didnt take any shots between 10/11 and this weekend. The other odd thing is my other camera(maybe a 10 minute walk away) picked up none of these deer ever. No pigs, no coons, no deer or anything except for one morning when a random axis doe and fawn showed up with another exotic type doe. They ate at that feeder, then moved up to the other one. Kind of odd to me but thinking maybe it was just sort of a one off deal. Plenty of sign around both feeders.

Meeting required AR if applicable all the above. My focus as every year is kids tag first!

1st deer looks like he could be 1.5. Depending on his age and quality against his peers in your area, he probably gets a pass. I would pass on the others as well unless they are notably deficient against their peers. If I thought the 10 was 5.5 or older he would get serious consideration but leaving him as a stud is a thought too.

You have a lot of nice bucks! It's hard to say on the 6pt-he has length and width, just not # of tines. Our bucks typically don't develop more than 8 until 4.5 or 5.5. He could easily add more points next year.
What are your hunting goals, and how much do you get to hunt?

Nope, I would even call the 6 a cull. He's still young. None of those deer are mature in my book

Quitshootingyoungbucks, this is a property owned by my inlaws. It is fairly small, do I don't know that culling vs not will have a major impact on the deer herd in the area. This is my first hunting season, so I really just want to start to build my skills and enjoy some time outside. I will probably get to hunt once a day every week or every other week. If I take a buck this year, cool! If I get a doe, cool! If I don't get anything, thats cool as well. I'm just kinda breaking into the sport, so to speak.

Yep. Looks older than the others. That's about what a mature buck looks like on our place. Not great, but good enough.

Last one looks really nice but not quite sure. Cull the six for sure

Your attitude is awesome! Since it's a small place, I wouldn't worry about culling. Just enjoy your hunting, and if you see one you really like, shoot it! You'll get your best chances for bucks during the rut, so focus on that time if you can. Good luck, and post pics when you get one.

Haha will do. I've been having as much fun running feeders and planning food plots and setting up cameras and stuff that the hunt is just kind of the cherry on top at this point.

Assuming I'm in an AR restricted county, no.
If MLD, that 1st one (6 point) would be done and done at first opportunity.
