Where do I hunt in Central Texas? - 10/30/17 03:53 PM
Can anyone help me out with finding a location to hunt whitetail in Central Texas? I am stationed at Fort Hood, and I am having trouble finding public land nearby to hunt on. I know there are some private areas, but I can't really afford the ones that I have seen online. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Sappertitan will be along shortly possibly ... there is some hunting on Ft. Hood but I'm not sure how you go about getting access or the rules/regulation ... Sapper should be able to answer.
if you are a bow hunter, Lake Georgetown and Lake Granger has some hunts ... neither are very far from your location.

Yes. When I lived in the Waco area, several folks that I knew hunted on Ft. Hood property. As I recall, one showed up at the jump off point early am and as long as spots were available people were posted in stands. Check with base officials.

PLENTY of deer here in Georgetown around the lake if you're meat hunting. We have a couple of quality bucks here in the neighborhood but most are scraggly looking.
