'Go To, Proven' buck attractant - 10/23/17 12:44 PM

Is there such a thing?

I hunt a small piece of property. Hunters of both sides of me as well.

Ive got a decent amount of does on my camera. I have been monitoring it for at least the past 3 months.
Ive had decent bucks show up 3 times. I would have them on camera for a couple of days, then never again.

Any thoughts on why? I see some of you post pictures of the same bucks antler growth from early year to season open....but i cant get a buck to stay more than a couple of days.

Its 2 weeks till opening of rifle season.

So you see all of the attractant on the shelves of Bass Pro and Field & Stream... Does any of this actually work?

So much to choose from ... from the blocks, to the scents, to the powders...

At the same time I dont want to introduce a new smell that spooks.....

Any help is GREATLY appreciated

Thanks

Hunting a small piece of property more times than not will be inconsistent for deer sightings simply because the deer don't live on it. They pass through it.

Best you can do is be consistent feeding them. Provide as much cover for them on your property as possible.
You might try creating some mock scrapes that you could drip some Tinks 69 in. Use rubber gloves to keep your scent down and keep that stuff off your hands.

Use a forked stick to create the scrape and locate them under low branches that are about the height of a standing deer.

With the exception of mock scrapes, which should be up and running now, I would save my money on all the other "attractants". If you have does, you'll have bucks. Time in the stand will be your greatest attractant if your looking to shoot a buck. Pack a lunch and stay all day.

Does. If you have the poon eventually you'll have the bucks.

As Pitchfork said, bucks likely don't live on your place. You said you had bucks several times and then not-that is pretty standard for that time of year. Once they break up and establish their areas you'll likely have a more dominant buck that appears somewhat regularly checking out the girls at the feeder. Keep in mind it might be several days between sightings if he locks up with a hot doe somewhere else.

Since you have hunters around you I would suggest hunting as carefully as possible. If those guys are pounding out their places with traffic the deer will look for a safe area. Work on hunting the wind, walking/driving as minimally as possible. Hunt at odd times some too. Pressure from the others can alter deer patterns.

Keep the does fat and happy and will you will get some bucks coming through. Food, water, and cover will definitely help.
