Big East Texas 8 Point - Low Fence

My lease (located in San Augustine County) has been chasing this buck for years. I finally caught up to him yesterday evening. He's a main frame 8 with 3 kickers. We scored him at a total gross of 173. Just as a main frame 8 he scores 163 then had another 10" in kickers. I'm sure the official score will be a little less than this but shouldn't be too much less.

Really nice buck.

I love hunting ETX. It's hard! But it's rewarding! You just have to put the work in to pattern them and pass up bucks that are hard to pass up until you get the opportunity to see the one you're after. Some years you don't get to fill your tag...other years you get to go to the taxidermist.

Here's a couple other bucks I've been fortunate enough to tag since 2010. Both of these are from Northeast Texas (Morris County)

150" - I hunted this deer for 4 years without killing anything before I finally got a shot at him.


135" - I passed up this buck as a younger 8 while chasing the big 10 point above. Then I got him the year after I shot the 150 ten point.

I had a feeling there was a few monsters between Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend. East Texas is a hidden gem.
