Madison County - 11/14/15 04:34 AM

Has anyone been hunting this county, if so what have you guys been seeing? Whats the activity like?

We own about 250 acres and Ill will be out there hunting the weekend after Thanksgiving. Im excited to get out there because I only get the chance to a couple times per season. There have been some good deer shot every year around our place.

Opening weekend was great. Great activity. Bucks chasing does around. Looking good this weekend also from what I was told.

Brother got a 10 with a 21" width.

Lots of big bucks running around.

Lots of food so feed sights are slow but if your in a good traffic area they are chasing.. rattled up three bucks this afternoon.. all young but activity is good. What part of the county are you in?

My hunting area is close to midway. They are barely hitting the feeders. They didn't at all on opening weekend.

Post up in a high traffic area like Navasot said and you'll see a lot of movement

Hunting Walker / Madison county.. Went up last Friday and returned yesterday, Sunday... 10 days.. Bucks were checking every Doe that came out, last weekend, this last week they seemed to be on lock down... Hardly any does and small bucks seen.. Friday they busted out and we took 2 10's one was 145 and the other 142..

Our place is Southeast of Madisonville off of Highway 75. Last year we had plenty of good bucks on camera but we never would see them during shooting light, it was very frustrating.

You saying you just get up there a couple times a year and no ones able to keep feeders up? or family or friends visit it often too?

Re: Madison County - 11/26/15 03:26 AM

I used to hunt a 36 acre square tract of land from 2008-2011. Lots of memories, even if I only shot one buck during that whole time. up Good luck to all.

Re: Madison County - 11/30/15 12:28 PM

Sorry, Just got back... The rut was kicking the 2nd week of November for us.. The last 2 bucks I killed were Nov 13, and Nov 14.... The Biologist said that week is the peak of the rut... This past weekend, Thanksgiving, we saw some young bucks cruising.. It should be coming into the 2nd rut this week or next week, I would think.. Saw bucks cruising all day, no major chasing.... Weather put a damper on a lot of that, I'm sure..
