Family member..not me I swear..gut shot a fallow doe this am...got it hung pretty quick but when cut open corn and grass everywhere. What's safe..don't wanna waste the animal

Your good. Rinse it's insides off. It's gonna smell, but the meat is OK.

I always rinse mine in a strong salt water brine until the inside is shiny clean. I'd surly do it if the gut was busted.

I gut ASAP then skin and wash with as high a pressure water as I have. Let it air and cool down for bit. Then either soak in ice water for a day then in ice for about 4-5 days or hang the carcass in a clean walkin cooler for 5-7 days. I would pull the tenders and do what Western suggested right away. Might have to discard the ribs at most, rest will be fine since the rest of the quarters and backstrap are outside the body cavity.
