Need Help, Should I move my feeder?

Well, after being unbelievably unprepared for this season, i landed some new property that i know has a ton of deer on it/ some nice bucks on it. I had previously scouted this property a few years ago, and knew the layout. I decided to put a feeder where you will see it in the picture. I have only had it out about a week with some rice bran, but I am yet to see a deer on camera on it. The white lines shown on the map are actual rub lines mostly from this season that I used my gps to plot.. blue is a creek.. question is... should i consider moving my feeder? or give it some more time?

Might leave it there or move to about when the D is in feeder. Are the deer there accustomed to rice bran already, if not try corn spread around it. It might take the deer some time to become familiar with a new food source.

I have spread corn and rice bran on the ground.. just seems weird. I used to spread corn just throwing it on the ground on this property and within 24 hours i had deer on it. making me extremely nervous.

There is lots for deer to feed on in most places this year, if those are this year rub lines and seeing tracks then the deer are around, would not sweat it too much at this time.

If corn is bringing them in. The deer are not used to the bran. Either switch to corn or mix until the deer got used to the rice bran.

oh no, thats what im saying. last year i could put corn on the ground a different part of this property and have deer there in less than 24 hours.. now i have corn on the ground, and rice bran, with a feeder feeding more corn and have yet to see a deer at it.

I've found if the bucks haven't ever seen a feeder it takes weeks sometimes months for them to feel comfortable around them. Pour some corn and rice bran 100 yards from the feeder and put a camera on it. Bet ya you'll have deer coming in.

Looking at how thick it is, it doesn't look like you can move much at all, so I wouldn't. Cut some shooting lanes back into that thicker stuff and hand corn lanes from the feeder out.

Well I went to check again this afternoon , and sure enough no pictures. But I noticed something. What appeared to be a track in the middle of my rice bran and I really inspected the corn and started noticing little pieces like where they are biting and dropping pieces. Studied camera and noticed that I do not have a single night time picture other than one random picture each night. At the exact same time every night. Did some online research and found people are having issues with these cameras taking pictures in low light conditions. i had literally went from the store to the woods with this camera. Took it back to academy and swapped it out, and also bought 3 more cameras. Moved the feeder north closer to the wood line, and then in 3 different places somewhat bordering the pasture on the southern side I put corn on the ground and cameras. I will find where the deer feel comfortable eating. There are fresh rubs absolutely everywhere around the opening. Some that weren't there a couple of days ago

Something to think about with feeders is that if they're too close to the woodline, the bucks can hang back in the brush and watch the ladies from protected cover. Having a feeder a little further out in the open encourages the bucks to expose themselves more as they look for a better vantage point from which to check on the wimens. YMMV.

Here's another suggestion. Lightly corn game trails and other known deer activity areas, back to the feeder. Meaning, lead them with corn to your feeder.

I did this several years ago. My land wasn't ever used and didn't have very many game trails. But had a bed area in the back corner. Cleaned up an area to put up a feeder. Didn't have anything on camera the first week. Then I went and bought one of those cheap road feeders and put it in my ranger. Drove the fence lines until I found crossing area. From there, I corned a line back to the feeder. Then found another one and did the same thing. Within 3 days I had deer on camera. Did that every weekend for about a month. Ended up have about 10 deer that we're going to that feeder at different times. Took the hogs about 3 months before they found it.

Based on your pic, I would start at the rub areas and find where they are crossing the creek. Depends on your area but I didn't have very many animals at all this summer. My guess is that we had so much rain that they had plenty to eat. Now that we haven't had any significant rain in the last couple months, all the grass is going dormant and the deer are wearing the corn out. My pics from the last month have tons of deer and hardly any pigs.

I just got a new place , and I too was surprised to see the deer immediately find & eat corn thrown on ground just about anywhere I put it - but soon as I got the feeder up, they wouldn't touch it for almost 2 weeks. Slowly & cautiously the finally started coming near the outside range of the feeder, and eventually near the legs, then under it.
I could tell from pics the deer were very aware of anything new, making me think there deer are staying on the property or somewhere very near.

welp... I moved the feeder towards the East more and slightly closer to the woodline. pictures of a single doe, and some raccoons...

across the pasture I put some corn on the ground in the woodline near that Easternmost rubline. in 38 hours, 237 pictures of does, and this little buck.. no monster but it sure is nice to see deer. Think i am now going to move two more cameras onto the property.. one on the northeast corner near a major trail, and one in the southwest corner which has a ton of rubs fresh. One way or the other, i will know where the deer are coming from.

Corn, golden nuggets and strawbeery jello.

Throw it out and add to feeder.

The day I put it out had deer on it.

Warning will attract hogs if you do not have a pen.

Looks like you have plenty of oak trees.. are the acorns on the ground yet? That'll keep them off the corn for a good while. Might try a water source.. maybe a well used trail to that creek? How many cameras do you have? they could come in real handy trying to figure out travel patterns before the season starts.

I have around 10 cameras, but I will go buy 10 more if need be..lol

well, as an update.. i have officially found some deer. had 464 pictures in 2 days. 5 new bucks showed up on camera also, including a possible shooter in this guy. i know there are bigger deer in these woods, but i doubt i pass him up if he presents himself this weekend

He's fully mature so I wouldn't pass on him either.
