WHAT TO PLANT / LOW FLOODED

WHAT TO PLANT / LOW FLOODED - 01/05/15 04:20 PM

I hunt in a creek bottom.

Most any time we get two or three inches of rain it stays flooded for weeks.

( like ankle deep . )

Deer seem to love the area, water does not bother them.

What should I plant as a food plot that will not drown.

Thanks for the advice.

Not beans. Oats maybe if their up above the water by the time it floods. Rice would do well but deer don't eat it. If its possible run a ditch to a lower area so the water won't hold.

I have a customer that told me to plant vetch.

Not sure what that even looks like.

That whole bottom is low and the soil has a lot of clay.

When it gets wet it holds it.

When it dry there are cracks big enough to fall in.

However the deer love that bottom, so I do too.
